Brazilian pianist, vocalist, composer and voice actress Catina DeLuna has enjoyed a successful and varied musical career since beginning to play the piano and sing at a young age. After completing a B.A. in Brazilian Popular Music at the prestigious UNICAMP University in São Paulo, she founded two award winning groups: the vocal group Arirê, in which she was responsible for arranging, playing piano, and singing, and the group Serenata Brasileira, playing classic Brazilian songs from the 1920’s and 30’s, in full authentic costume and style. Ms.Deluna currently has two independent released CDs available, Na Era de Ouro, from Serenata Brasileira, and Brazilian Accent, her solo debut featuring classic Bossa Nova standards.

Ms. Deluna has toured Japan, Singapore and the United States, as well as recorded numerous commercial jingles/voice-overs for national radio and television in Brazil. Since her move to the United States, she served as visiting scholar at Uof I at Urbana-Champaign, and obtained her M.M. at  Northern Illinois University where she was awarded a grant from the Center for Latino and Latin American Studies to carry out research on maracatu in Brazil during the summer of 2008.

In 2015 Catina DeLuna and pianist, arranger and producer Otmaro Ruiz Joined forces to release a highly acclaime album “Catina DeLuna & Lado B Brazilian Project featuring Otmaro Ruiz”. The record has now received an official GRAMMY nomination for the 2016 Grammys in the category of Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals.
